ABOUT THE ARTIST
FUNMILAYO CHESNEY founded the F.U.S.H.A.DANCE COMPANY in 1995 with the belief that the ancient dance of the Congolese people, combined with the creations of their descendants, has shaped and provided the roots of many music and dance styles in the African Diaspora, including Samba, Hip Hop, Reggae Calypso, and more. Chesney is devoted to educating and empowering people through the healing power of dance as well as celebrating the richness of dance and culture from Africa and the Diaspora. In addition to teaching Congolese dance for the past twenty years, Chesney has also created a uniquely fun and exhilarating cardio fitness dance class called Congocise which she teaches at Cumbe and other sites through New York City!
