Everyone has voices in their heads: mundane obsessions, cereal commercials, abstract fear. Superficial worries escalating into apocalyptic anxiety before the first cup of coffee. A RIDE ON THE IRISH CREAM

Friday, May 9    8:00pm  |  Saturday, May 10    8:00pm  |  Sunday, May 11    6:00pm

Written by Erin Markey (BAX 2013/14 Artist In Residence)

A Ride on The Irish Cream is a sung-through, dark surrealist comedy about a grown girl’s relationship to family, femininity, sexuality and pop culture–a collection of fictionalized melodic accounts of true stories from the life of Erin Markey. She and her pontoon boat, Irish Cream, live inside a piece of Arctic Mint Gum. It is bright and cold. On the river, there are hurricanes, psoriasis and Christmas to weather. Luckily, they have a Swarovski crystal studded microphone and pink leather umbrella to guide and protect them through the unpredictable water and terrain. A Ride on The Irish Cream is about the gorgeous, stupid and terrifying ways our bodies choose to interpret our memories.
